| From the Where2sing.com forum: I think the message about how wrong copyright infringement is, is eventually hitting home where it counts - in Asia - where most counterfeiters and pirates reside!
When I was in Malaysia a few months back, pirate discs and tapes of any kind seem to have vanished. They used to be rampant in night-markets (pasar malam). Upon enquiry, I was advised by relatives that the law is really tough on pirated anything these days - Malaysian police now have the right to forcibly smash their way into vehicles and homes when they see pirated material in full view, confiscate them and them prosecute the owners of those vehicles and homes.
May be a bit exaggerated, but that's the way it is now I am told.
Even though I bought some genuine original DVDs there, I am told not to put them on the car seats where they could be seen from the outside, but 'hide' them - my cousins didn't want their car windows smashed in by the over-zealous pirate-police!!
