Hi David. you are ALLEGING that I need a licence..however you are not a legal expert in copyright so you may be WRONG? Can you accept that? I have a great idea for us to resolve this properly. You write an email/letter to the appropriate music authority (e.g. APRA AMCOS) and ask them the following. You are not going to get shot ...they can only say ...yes or no Dear Sir/Madam, We believe that there are websites on the internet where it accepts uploads of songs for others around the world to hear...songs which were mainly recorded at karaoke venues. These websites conduct their business FREE OF CHARGE..they do not charge for uploads, downloads, or for the songs to be heard by the recipients. Can such a website be set up in Australia? If not why not? If it can under what conditions can this be done? Sincerely So you send the above and then send me the response Regards

REPLY from David
No, I'm not 'alleging' - I'm reading from the Copyright Act and also from the letter of clarification from APRA: You must possess a licence to be able to legally upload songs to any website. There is no need for me to write to APRA as they have already replied and stated the legal position. In any case, the business of these websites is none of your concern - what should be your concern is that you are continuing to illegally upload songs to websites even though you know that this is infringing copyright.

Meet karaoke hosts and singers in the Where2sing.com forums . . .

KARAOKE in Australia

You've found the #1 website with the original and biggest karaoke gig listings database listing nearly 1,000 gigs across all states of Australia - each listing with full venue name, address, phone number plus extensive information about the gig itself. Read feedback from singers who have already visited the venue, and see information such as songlist size, crowd size, type of singer and even how much applause you can expect when you visit each gig.

Or visit the forums where both singers and hosts meet and chat - including State-chat forums where you can make friends whom you'll meet up with at a venue near you.

And there are the Gig Reviews, the constantly updated 'National Top 10 Karaoke Venues' chart, specialised lists of venues for Under 18s and currently running Competitions, lists for karaoke rooms, restaurants, karaoke hosts and supplliers, and karaoke news from all around the world.

Of course, the best way to keep up to date is by opting in for the FREE weekly Karaoke News Email.
