| From the Where2sing.com forum: Sad to see the Harp at Tempe has closed. I remember this as one of my first hosting gigs in NSW many years ago. Seems a few live venues are closing around the place lately.
Also Songbird, I have had the unfortunate experience of karaoke @ the Glasshouse as well and was asked to leave before singing! Similar to an all female karaoke outfit here in sydney who wouldn't even let me look at their book when they had their setup in a public park one time.
Another bad Melb experience was at a venue whose name I can't recall but it was on the same street as The Peel hotel. It was only a vcd based system and the operator couldn't figure out how to mute the guide vocals, so we had to sing over the top of them. Talk about an awful show!
One of my regular punters moved from Syd to Melb recently and goes to about 4 shows a week but hasn't been able to find anything close to the standard of shows here in Sydney. Last saturday he went to one in St Kilda which started half an hour late, only got 3 singers in the next half hour as the drag queen hosting it wouldn't stop talking between songs THEN they took a half hour music break despite having singers waiting on the books! After getting his first song after two hours had gone by, despite putting it in before the advertised starting time, he left in frustration!
