Quite right about Idol singers needing to have the over-all package , & at Mike Rophone's gig last night I was talking to a rather ...nay , very good looking young lass about what it takes to make it on Idol, as she told me she was determined to audition next year. I told her exactly the same ,that singing ability is only 50% & performing ablity , the more I think about it , even more important. Australian Idol was on one of the TVs in the lounge & we could see they had Liza Minneli on as a guest judge but the sound was turned down so we couldn't hear her comments ... a pity I feel , 'cause after hearing the ads on the radio for her concerts , I've no doubt that without her big smile & her overt & exuberant stage presence , her voice alone wouldn't win her your average Karaoke comp. That forced & false vibrato of hers just gives me the ''sit & spits'' , yet strangely I still like her ... yep ...it's the over-all package .By the way , does anyone know if there's a repeat of last night's show during the week ? I'd love to see /hear how the famous Liza performed & the comments/advice she gave to the contestants
Oh & MB , I remember reading you were in bands over the years ... did you ( or anyone else ) catch any of those ''band makes it'' movies I wrote about .... & did ya enjoy 'em as much as I did ! ?? ....
