| From the Where2sing.com forum: David spoken like a true singer 'new singer is up within about half an hour of arriving'.
This is a fallacy because sometimes the amount of singers you may have still waiting for a 1st song.
Let say you start at 8pm and have 20 singers all eager to put their names in and @ 9.30 you have had another 10 people added to the list (now 30 singers in the rotation) and someone walks in and wants to be put up with 30 minutes ...it just isn't going to happen.
You see @ 9.30 you would have had at least (allowing 5 minutes a song and people getting up to the mic etc) a total of 18 out of the 30 having a song.
Now if some one came in @9'30 and put in a song they would still have to wait for the other twelve singers to have their 1st songs.
So the wait would be like an hour.
This happens quite a lot at Peaky and even closing the 1st round at X number of singers would still see the person waiting.
Rotations and putting someone up when they walk in within half an hour only works if your near the end of the rotation or you have a smaller amount of singers all up.
Vic your absolutely right about Peaky that rotation is followed by the regulars and we don't have passing trade.
