| From the Where2sing.com forum: Malley Boy : There are certain songs that bring certain times places and people to my mind when I hear them. The song People By Barbra Streisand makes me think back to when I was younger and my mom would sing that to me. I can still hear her voice in my mind though she passed away nearly 8 years ago. She had such a beautiful gentle voice.
I cant remember who sings the song but my grandmother and I used to sing as a duet to ' To know him is to love him '. I have only heard it sung 2 times at the karaokes I have been too over the years and it still takes me back to when I was 16 and singing along with gran.
' Close to you ' by the Carpenters is the song I sang to my son when I was pregnant with him. He is now 20 and that song still takes me back to the time I would sit in my favourite rocking chair, counting down the weeks til he was born and listening to that song over and over. He came to karaoke one weekend and asked me to sing it to him. I did and as I was I had tears stereaming down my face because he was standing behind me with his arms around me as I did. When the song finished he took the microphone and said ' This is our song mom and it will be forever, I love you '... You can imagine what a mess emotionally I was after he said that lol.
Kenny Chesneys ' You had me from Hello ' was dedicated to me by a darling friend I had in the USA. Back in the days when I was singing in Yahoo Chat Singing Rooms ( for 6 years ) before every going to karaoke, Jonah sang that song to me to let me know how special I was to him through all the upsets he had had during the preceeding 2 years. It still gets to me.
I have many more but they are the ones that stand out the most to me at this moment. Thank you for letting me share them with you all.
