| From the Where2sing.com forum: I am still debating with myself on that topic. I enjoy using both for different reasons. It does make sence for those in business employing team members to host shows to provide them with rigs that are easy to use and set up . Our computor rigs are all plug and play systems. All are the same so no matter what rig you are working the set up is the same. The Song books again the same. Anyone within the Industry looking to expand there business should consider a laptop as there second or maybe third rig. I dont see any benifit to those that run disc to change over to laptops if they only intend to do one show per night. Multi show operators do benifit from laptops. One thing you can not get away from ( if you do the right thing ) Is paying for music weather it be on Disc or down loaded for each rig you own. So why not buy the hard copy disc? Each rig we own has real value to it ,due to the fact that the Business, Rigs and Disc . If I for some reason wanted to sell a Rig or the business as a whole they are worth something. A Laptop rig with its disc stored brand new never used is worth . say 3000.00 in music alone. I for one would not buy a rig with songs and no disc. Even if receipts for the down loaded music were given over. .... Sure downloads can be cheaper but so can aftershave lotion. LOL I would not pay 3000.00 for paper receipts.... .
Anyone can show receipts and they are easy to photo copy.
I guess if we all just download and we all work out a way to save money on music would we spend money then on other parts of the business to improve our shows. or do we get to the point we all do shows from an ipod with cheap ass files and PA to save a few bucks.
I for one will continue purchasing my music from Capital . We do have a large budget for music per year and no other supplier in Australia has done anything to attract any business from me... They could track me down bugger it.
