Narly ,Jason Julz, Kev, & other interested parties, I think all of us who are dedicated(maybe addicted?) Karaokeists(?!) would like to see the night taken up with only Karaoke & to get through as many singers/songs as possible, but if Dean advertises as mixed DJ & Karaoke,(as you pointed out Kev), hey ,what can you say?? It's often not the host's choice. Would you(any host) knock back a gig just because the pub/club insisted you have the odd dance break? I doubt it. I went to Rooty Hill RSL recently & when the host announced the dance break ,I cringed too. But surprisingly , quite a few people got up to dance (not me) & even more during the second dance break (again not me). Thankfully , they were only about 15 min. long so it was no big deal & I had to admit , hey it's working (for the venue) I still got three songs in. Keep those fists pumping Dean!! On the subject of rotations, it gets my goat when someone walks in 1-1/2 hrs after a gig has started & slips straight onto the end of the first round. Those who have been there from the start, supporting the venue with real money should get an extra song. I know this is not always possible if there is heaps of singers from the start (such as the Band Club & CCC) ,but if there is only 6-8 singers early I love to see the host reward them with that extra song in the first 30-45 min. & then start round one. Kev , Ihope you get some good hosterisors(?) this week . Julz, I'd love to hear that version of Your No Good...!! For the record , my first ever song at Karaoke was Beatles, Ticket to ride (I butchered it..!!) who else remembers their first effort ??
