| From the Where2sing.com forum: Green Acres, thanks for your input, and map-based search will definitely be a feature of the next version of W2S. One of the nuisance factors, however, is that on less than a fast connection such search is very slow - but connections are getting faster, Google's maps are loading an interacting faster, and thus this facility on W2S will come at a time when it works at a speed that's really useful.
However, the revision of W2S is going to be more than just a simple re-write - it'll represent a whole new approach, one based on the change of use of the Internet over the several years since I wrote the present version. And it's not just as easy as programming in a few new pages, as I'm labouring through the last couple of chapters of a book on social networks so that I understand the science of the subject, and how studies in that field equate the standard 'six degrees of separation' with the newer research revealing three degrees of influence. I'm also having to build a better working knowledge of Javascript, and am slowly writing the background routines for the dynamic building of objects required for a fast download of a highly Javascript intensive site - along with a huge amount of extra testing and re-coding to make it work in the major browsers with all their incompatibilities.
