| From the Where2sing.com forum: Many thanks for the link, but unfortunately it would add little to the present W2S search based on postcodes, and since postcodes are large and of irregular size, it doesn't seem likely that it can be set for specific km distances - strangely, the examples given relate to specific businesses at specific places and with searches for such as 450m, however this is at complete odds with the data being offered. For $275, Dreamscapemedia is offering a list of Australia postcodes each with its longitude and latitude - I think all I could do with this is to have someone input a suburb or postcode, and then give a list of venues in that same suburb, or extend the range to adjacent postcodes. And that's pretty much what can already be done with the W2S Gig Listings search.
What is really needed is to add the longitude and latitude of every venue to the existing W2S database so that these can be sent to a Google map and appear as dots on whatever area someone selects in the Google map, including some information seen when you place your cursor over one of these dots on the map.
At the moment on W2S, it's possible to search by Suburb and/or Postcode - so how I usually do this when travelling is to enter the town I'm in, note the Postcode, and then widen my search by entering first that Postcode, and then adjacent ones. If you have some suggestion on how the W2S search could be improved based on the same data being used as at present (ie: no 'long' and 'latt' coordinates), then perhaps I could add something quickly to make searching areas easier.
