I wonder whether it's more a case of wanting to parade their 'little darlings' to everyone, seeking admiration for their child that somehow vindicates their own lack of success. We're all told how positive reinforcement is what everyone needs in life to succeed, and sadly there are many takers for this theory despite their being little evidence to show that it works. I agree with you, let these tiny singers buy their own system, play it at home and amuse their friends until they are of drinking age, have voices that have matured to a point when they don't hurt the eardrums, and then can join the adult pastime of pub karaoke.
