David i agree with your '' newsletter '' and yes i think all hosts should sell there discs NOW ! , as you said at least you will get a little something for them and guess what ! , i'll buy them , one condition they must be in ''' as New condition '' , no tears or scratches on disc or housing ( cover ) , here's my offer ...Run of the Mill brands''' ie..SGB , ,Asian type VCD's and similar quality , i'll pay 10 cents a disc , Top of the line discs ..ie...SFG ,ZOOM , Chart buster and other similar quality i'll pay 50 cents per disc and any very hard to find discs ..ie... pioneer cd i'll pay 75 cents per disc heeeheee lol
Seriously now, in time you'll be right but somehow i don't think it will an '' over night thing '' i mean how long ago was the first computer karaoke you seen , me i think it was perhaps some time in the late nineties ???? you see because for many hosts , especially those hosts in the ''' twilight '' of there careers and only doing 2, 3, 4 jobs a month , it would be silly to go over to an all computerize system and if songs are only available in download in the future then they will just run there shows out to the end with there existing lists which i seen happen when LD's became ''hasbeens ''
but still if all songs are for '' free '' well that may make the different
But always remember ...What is old always becomes New again , i've recently sold my '' old records and Audio tapes '' greater most where in ex cond and i got much more money than what i paid for them and the sales where strong there was lots of people interested
I also sold many of my karaoke Audio tapes ( original karaoke format ) and interest was strong and they were ''snapped up ' quickly and i got a very good return dollar wise .
So you see there is a light at the end of the tunnel if you hold on to your discs for about 30 years '' retro karaoke in the year 2025 , you'll get paid '' big bucks ''
