| From the Where2sing.com forum: LB, if every track is to be streamed, then broadband speeds need to equal that of playing the tracks - but keep (build) a library of songs and reduce those needing to be downloaded (streamed) to, say, one in every five, and there is something like 12 minutes for downloading each song. In other words, supplementing the host's library with new songs rather than streaming every single one is possibly feasible now. Make tracks free, and there will be no barrier to holding a large library of songs. Embed the value of the song, meaning the advertising message, and piracy is desirable as it spreads the advertising.
Geo-located advertising is fast becoming a reality with Facebook trying to go down this course now. Streamed karaoke with locally-relevant adverts could become just another Facebook App - imagine the host sharing the advert revenue with Facebook, the way that websites presently share advert revenue with Google. Hosts might then view karaoke as an opportunity for and advertising stream.
