From the Where2sing.com forum:

It's interesting that the complaints against fair rotations based on time of arrival in a venue are almost unanimously by hosts. It may be the truth that, to be entertaining, a show needs to have a flexible rotation. But then again, if this is so, why have hosts been going on all this time about how they run fair rotations. It seems that the fact is that very few hosts do run fair rotations, and interestingly there are very few shows at which singers don't complaint about the rotations. Draw you own conclusions.

I love the idea about treating singers as mushrooms; then you get mushrooms. Then you complain? WTF.

Treat your customers as intelligent people, take your opportunity to educate them, treat their complaints as an opportunity to interact and build a communications channel, and you'll enjoy singers who are educated people happy to talk to you and making intelligence decisions. It's a shame that so many operators think that karaoke is a 'business apart', thus distancing themselves from the huge body of knowledge on which they could draw in order to run more successful shows.

Success is based on defining the problem and then selecting the solution - if a solution cannot be found, then almost certainly the problem has not been sufficiently clearly defined. Case in point, Rovics' jumping: The dancers bounce the floor which is connected, however loosely, to Rovics' equipment, so no matter the amount of foam used, the problem is not solved. Much better for Rovics to hang it's equipment from the ceiling...lol.
