From the Where2sing.com forum:

This debate has been covered many times on W2S but not as fully as this.Everyone is correct in some way and if I could mirror the majority of our shows then LB's model is the one and it works. There is no textbook for running a karaoke show so it is all about judgement and communication and creating,as Vic says....The Vibe!!!

In most situations when you have to queue there is the ability to open another queue and then another to cope with the influx of customers, which we cannot do in karaoke. All that is done is another queue is opened up within the original one that accounts for the original singers and the new ones and fairly takes into account the length of time the newies have been at the venue or when they put down their song.Everyone knows how it works and if they dont it is explained. In terms of venue patronage it would not be fair for someone to walk in half way through the night and and have an immediate song.

In the same light most people are there to sample the product more than once and are paying their way to ensure this.I have been to venues where there is almost one queue all night and the hosts are under much more pressure that any of the hosts that have made comment in this debate...the pressure of the 2nd song!!!
