| From the Where2sing.com forum: LB, I tried to sing an obscure Van Morrison at a venue with that 'no slow songs after 10pm' rule, and chose an upbeat one. The host sought me out in the crowd and asked me about the song, saying something like 'that's a slow song, right?' to which I replied that it wasn't, and was chosen in line with his rule. He was still dubious, and I changed to something modern, well known, and up beat. I now take that rule as meaning 'something that the crowd will dance to' - which probably means something upbeat and well known.
