| From the Where2sing.com forum: KT: It's a reasonable idea in theory, but in practice, I just can't see how it would work. It would require:
a) The host to know every single song on their list and what style it was (knowing the style of just the artist isn't enough)
and probably the most important point...
b) The host's opinion of what gets the crowd up co-incides with what will actually get the crowd up.
You mentioned Wonderwall as a possible exception, I know quite a few gigs in Sydney that because of the demographic of the crowd will almost guarantee the entire room to be singing along. They wouldn't however do the same with New York New York which another room would.
Playing devil's advocate here (to my own point, I know), one might say that a host has a good chance of knowing his/her room but you really never know who is in the room and what they're in the mood for. At the end of the day, your patrons are your best guide as to what they want and it's a folly to deny them the opportunity to exercise their choice, even if it means a song that doesn't match *your* requirements sometimes.
