| From the Where2sing.com forum: Horses for courses , there is a lot of difference between a '''Rock Ballad '' to a ''' Classical Diva type Ballad then you have '''Folk type Ballads''' and lets not forget '''Country Ballads '' and even ''' R&B type ballads and yes even ''' crooning Ballads such as TBM has written about , yet alot of the time it comes down to singer quality , i have yet to see in all my years a singer who sings any type of ''Ballad ''' in a dam good fashion get a poor response from the majority of the crowd at any time of the night , and yes sometimes as a host you have to ''' wriggle the rotation and yes a '' smart singer '' more than likely will ''' sing the song for his/ her Audience '' which will provide the best out-come for applause but in saying that i personally never ever placed any restrictions on what people sung ( other than the occasional swapping of songs in the rotation if there was a great need to do so ie ... to many ''' slow songs '' in a row later in the evening ) , why ?? because i believe if someone is willing to leave home ,have the expense to travel to come to my show and then spend money over the bar so i can feed my family , then they are entitled to sing what the blooding well want , if they don't spend money .. stuff em'' they get what i give them
