Bundoora Hotel Comp Final 25 Aug 2010:

What a line-up of 7 gals plus 1 guy! To me, apart from their stirring performances, what a visual treat! Enough said there! Even SCOTTY the lone-male Finalist got into the spirit of things, with a slicked-back mop-top on his otherwise well-known marble-dome!

There were 3 Judges this time instead of 4, and again, their adjudications aligned with mine for the Winner and Runner-Up. To me, and to all the Audience, the Winner is a class above the rest – CARLY (with child). CARLY has mesmerised us all every time she took to the stage – she’s one of those gifted singers who appeals to both males and females alike, who instantly gains rapport with her audience, and makes each one of us feel as if she’s singing to each one of us individually ….

And unlike other karaoke comp finalists who have would have practised their songs many times over (and as the case will be with some comp chasers – many YEARS over), when CARLY sings her songs it’s always the very first time she has sung to those backing tracks (and which we all know it’s a risk, as karaoke tracks could be vastly different to the original recordings) – and that’s sheer talent from her, nothing short of sensational – goodness knows what level she can bring her performances to if she has had prior practices to those karaoke tracks!

2nd Prize deservedly went to seasoned campaigner ROXY (who dressed up like Angus / AC-DC for her 2nd song “Long Way To The Top” – school uniform, shorts, tie, cap and all, and a toy guitar).

3rd Placegetter is a relative newcomer to the karaoke scene in VERONICA who did a couple of well-known Diva’ish songs, but which she performed in her own likable style.

Another good comp night – no bitching, no arguments about the Winner and Runner-Up!
