I think you are seeing karaoke from your own point of view being an older person and not from a younger person's point of view. Yes, karaoke may be for you a reminisce but for others it is an avenue to train in vocal and performance skills. For you, karaoke might be about older style songs as it might be for many others, but a talented karaoke singer can also make it in the music industry if they find the right person. Today it is about the right opportunity and right marketability and not necessarily any hard work. I still think that the best karaoke singer can be world class and sell records!
