A singer who dreams of making a good living singing and selling records will get nowhere singing in karaoke bars hoping to be “discovered” one day by a record company tycoon who so fortuitously happens to drop in at the particular karaoke bar he or she is singing at …..
If anyone has such a high opinion of himself or herself as a singer / performer, then put your money where your mouth is (so to speak) and be proactive. Take a gamble! Sell out, get a Green Card and move to the U.S. and audition for the next American Idol series (like some other foreign contestants have done in prior years, and if you are of the right age) and get the HUGE exposure on offer there! Or maybe easier for an Aussie passport-holder, get to London and audition for the UK X-Factor / Idol series. Last resort - audition for the next Aussie X-Factor / Aussie Idol series. If you can’t get past those audition stages and be in their Top 48 or Top 100 or whatever the initial magic cut-off number is, then hey, maybe you are not as good as you think you are …..
BUT do not fret, there’s still another way! Sell out, steal or borrow and cut yourself an independent CD and flog it on YouTube or other online avenues ….. and I believe that many a successful current-day artist have been born this way ….
