| From the Where2sing.com forum: David , now the '' heat '' is off , i would like to comment on your ''' newsletter '' , in particular about '' family members hearing singers sing there songs ''' ....From my perspective i came from a rather large family of kids and I being the youngest of 6 children i ''sort of '' was the forgotten one for several reasons 1.. age differences meant the others were well on the way to pershing there '' things in life '' that they set out to do ...2 .. the others were all ''' sports mad '' and i was ''' performing arts mad ''' so with our interests and hobbies they never crossed paths ...3 ...The others not being able to '''understand '' the dream of performing and hoping to make a living out of it was basically a nonsense to them , it wasn't '''Real like the footy is ''' was one comment i remember, so sadly there was no interest or money available for that matter so as a young teenager to pershe my ''' dream & ambitions ,
So it was totally up to me to somehow curve out an eduction in the performing arts , hence lots of '' stage plays'' at school , i couldn't afford equipment to play in the band , so i got 2 part time jobs to buy a 2nd hand guitar and small Amp and started getting my own '' bands '' together , after several years of ear -deafening garage bands that never got out of the garage ( more or less ) i started to ''Join '' other bands and building my '' profile ' plus in between things doing '''Semi-pro stage productions '' plus the odd '' solo gig '' some doors started to open on a '' professional level '' , then came along ''Karaoke ''' and in those days the money was so good hey !!!! who needed bands , putting up with all the artistic personalities for a lower percentage of money lol.......Anyway getting back to the family thing 35 years have pass and they still have little understanding of my performing life but I'm slowing showing them things from my pass ( sadly not much ''physical evidence'' around ...a few Demos , some old '' tickets to shows , a couple of video tape of stage shows and bands etc ) and they are totally blown away ..
