Just want to say that I have not been 'won over' by X Factor or any of its marketing/promotional stunts - the cave stunt - that was a good laugh (no I didn't fall for that Barry! LOL!) - I don't think I'm that naive!
I enjoy X Factor for its entertainment value .... I also like learning from it. I like watching how each of the singers sing and perform, how they work the crowd, what worked/what didn't etc.... I'm not ashamed to say that I incorporate some of what I see in X Factor/Idol etc performances (and numerous live concert DVDs of my favourite artists in action that I enjoy watching) into my own karaoke performances...(admittedly, doesn't always work though...have crashed and burned lots of times, and felt like a real tool on more than one occasion! LOL!)
I'm certainly not gifted with the greatest voice, but I like to think that nobody will ever accuse me of not giving my all in a performance. I take comfort in the fact that some of the worlds best artists over the years are not necessarily great singers or musicians, but rather simply captivating performers. I guess I'm just always trying to raise the bar a little each time I get up there and am more than happy to take some freebie tips from as many other singers and music industry professionals as I can along the way to help me do so...
