| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi Pete. No, I am not referring to you specifically. But there are hosts who do gloat and see the List as the be-all and end-all, not really appreciating (or perhaps purposely ignoring) its shortcomings.
Yes, it could be very misleading to Singers : Particularly if they do not read the very important over-riding PROVISIO which states 'The Where2sing.com Top 10 Karaoke Venues chart is compiled from where2sing.com singers' favourite karaoke venue choices made within the last 30 days'.
So, it is only voted on by Singers who are aware of Where2Sing and who bother to logon and vote. And I believe the ones who do logon and vote do so at the requests of the hosts of those gigs who wish to be (and are presently) on the List.
Hotmail account holders are not eligible to vote, and I would say more than 50% of people with email accounts uses Hotmail ... Another prohibiting factor adding to the disparity of votes for this List - a good number of REGULAR karaoke goers are aged 50+ and not all of them are computer savvy, and as such fail to register their voices even if they wanted to ...
Still, the List is useful to newcomers to the site looking for a venue to go to - they will refer to the List as a starting-point. And it's not such a bad thing for newcomers to go to those Listed venues - because, if they are what they claim to be, they will be popular and densely attended, giving these newcomers a good feel of karaoke overall (would give the newcomers a better impression than if they would have rocked up to a sparsely attended venue) ...
