From the Where2sing.com forum:

On My particular system using the SM58 mics (its different settings for My AKG and Beta58A)......if the trim on the channel is at 12 Oclock...Volume @about Unity.....and if under those circumstances ....a singer complains of not being able to be heard or hear themselves then I know they are not singing Loud/Projecting enough ...any increase in settings beyond that brings on a Feedback loop particularly if the Singer sings and points the Mic at the ceiling....or persistently drops the mic by their side in between phrases,

Its gotta to be said of course that as hosts ...we do not always have all of our settings spot on 24/7...however through the course of an evening we learn the peculiarities of NEW singers and adjust accordingly ..likewise..if they are experienced Karaoke singers...then they also can adjust to a new system/host ... and new acoustics and not Judge the Gig on the basis of one or two songs.

When I get a New and unknown singer at my gig ...until I know his/her singing quirks better ..I always keep things well under controll....because too many times what started out as a quiet and quite controlled singer turned out to be a screaming lunatic by the time we got to the Chorus of the song...sending me and my System into red light over load ...LOL
