| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi TB/HM....When starting a venue from scratch , basically you only get out of it what you put into it , so with that in mind ,, remember there are 6 other trading days at this venue so what you need work out with management which is the best way to utilise your existing customer base as well getting ''' new faces in '' , one way i use to do it is to go down to the venue daily ( if poss ) and speak to people in the bars , first of all about ''' general things '' in life but when things are comfortable start telling them about ''' the show '' , also ''' hit '' the Bistro , ( you may have to be a little selective with who you approach here ) , firstly get the management to offer a couple of ''' free meals '' in the Bistro on your karaoke nights ( for 6-8 weeks valid your karaoke only ) then have a little pamphlet ( about half a4 ) with only ''' Necessary '' details about your show ... ie .. day , time of show , where , ( forget the biggest list of songs and i'm the greatest host of the year crap ''' keep it directly on point WIN A FREE MEAL and also enjoy a great time etc etc ...........The pub wins because usually people who win the freebie often bring a few '' Paying FREINDS to have a meal with them on YOUR karaoke night so its a win win situation ....but start off asking the diners how they are enjoying the meal and Ambiance of the place and then start your ''' promo work ''' gently gently .........OH oh !!! does the venue have a '' drive threw '' bottle shop , if so make sure the attendant gives a pamphlet of your show at every sale ( get the boss to instruct the employee / s )at every sale .... best of luck ( and this advice is once again free of charge ) well perhaps a few beers if i come to your show lol
