From the Where2sing.com forum:

Roz... regarding hosts who sing a song to open a show, I know this is ordinarily done, and it seems quite normal to me, but I now question its value. Does the host not know the levels until he sings a whole song - because I rarely see hosts twiddling knobs more than in the first few seconds, and does their setting levels for their voice mean that they will not need to reset any levels for other singers? On the downside, it is taking away from the time available to singers, gives the wrong impression about the role of the host, and a host who is a great singer can intimidate ordinary singers. Most of all, I've seen several shows where the host doesn't sing 'to get the show started', and it works just fine. As far as a 'fill in' between rounds, surely if there are 'rounds' then there is no need for a 'fill in'. Or does he have a great voice?

If you have a picture on your mobile phone, there should be some way to get it onto a computer (maybe message it to someone who has a memory card in their phone or who can connect their phone to a PC, and then email it to me). A host with a sense of humour, and one who 'works the floor' is in my book much better than one who doesn't interact with his audience whilst singers are performing.
