From the Where2sing.com forum:

I seem to have read a different newsletter...

David writes that the night started with 'a handful of mature folk' and that within 'the space of two or three songs' the place had 'filled' with more people with no talent and only losing 'two tables of oldies'.

I understand the use of language may have been a bit loose but it seemed to me that the majority of the pub were being entertained, a handful of people left as they weren't impressed and David may well have been in the minority in his opinion that there was a 'trashing' going on. How much did the pub lose over the bar from the two tables of oldies leaving (drinking, wine/beers?) and how much did they gain by having the pub 'filled' with young tone deaf revellers who order by the jug in most places.

Sorry Billy T, but personal experiences aside, going from the evidence and language used in the newsletter I'm going to stick by my use of the word elitist.
