| From the Where2sing.com forum: FB ...The Industry rule of thumb is that your amplifier should be capable of 2 - 2.5 times the the RMS power of your speakers....sounds weird I know ...but thats how it works
Using that accepted Industry formula....her speakers @8 ohms should be around 150-175 watts RMS each .... because her Amplifier is only capable of 2x 350 watts @8ohms....that will ensure no blown speakers...no distortion....and the best possible sound the equipment is capable of...provided she also understands Gain Structure
I am concerned that she is about to waste her money on Ebay on speakers advertised @1000 watts.....that is rubbish for a start...
More often than not ...Its Under powered amplifiers that blow speakers ...NOT over powered (provided they are not ridiculously over driven of course)
