MB, my $400 15 inch ACTIVES are just as good at their sound reproduction as JSB's Behringer 15 inch equivalents. They, while being in a slightly larger case, are also lighter than the Behringers. I do take exception to the fact that you inadvertently implied that I might be inexperienced, yes as a host I may be, but when it comes to electronics, I am in no way a novice. I spent over 20 yrs wasting away my life in Melbourne as a Technician only to return home and find that I could make the same money pulling beers!! The old school 'you get what you pay for' does not apply to electronics 100% as this industry has a large 'Chinese' factor. For example, have you ever wondered why brands like TCL, Hisense & other generic brands seem to make better LCD TVs that Sony Panasonic & Toshiba? Because the Chinese have been credited to having 'World's best practice' when it comes to making the screens themselves, so much so that the frontline companies are now switching their screen manufacturing bases to China. Same is also applying to professional audio equipment. Now I'll admit that what they are producing could come down to nothing less than reverse engineering of frontline equipment, but the bottom line is, they also add a couple of improvements or differences that usually in no way make any discernable difference in sound reproduction, and all at a saving to the consumer of anything up to half the frontline products price. I challenge any of you to make your way to Geelong one Thursday and take a listen for yourself at my regular gig. Oh, and I have never had an issue with eBay leads either. As long as the cable is of good quality and the soldering is done to industry standards, they shouldn't make any difference!

Just so everyone knows what my setup consists of when I write about it on here, I am running a Compaq CQ41 Laptop running Siglos Karaoke Pro through a Behringer UCA202 USB sound card into a Behringer 1202FX Passive effects mixer (all mounted in a custom home-made box) into 2 Dayton 15in Active speakers and using an I.Acoustics (another eBay unit) 10in Active as a foldback off the control headphones line. For mics I use Sennheiser (yes I know quality when I see it) e845s Mics with foam screens for the singers and I have a set of Radio mics for myself that also come from eBay but rival the quality of my sennheiser units and give great range as well. My video is converted from VGA to RCA through a generic converter box bought from Hong Kong off eBay for $23, This allows me to go RCA via either a lead or RF link (Bought from ALDI of all places for $50) to any LCD/Plasma screen in the venue and still have a VGA output available for my singers screen. My singers screen is a BenQ 19in (bought off eBay again for $50) 4:3 Ratio LCD Monitor mounted on a custom home-made fold-away stand with a perspex front for idiot protection. My leads (video & audio) are all Silicon Coated & Shielded items. Most of this equipment is actually visible on my Buckley's listing photos (6th photo). I'm happy to answer any questions regarding its quality but critisism is best kept until you have seen and heard this setup working.

Karaokechic, what I have described above was all setup for just on $2000. So yes it can be done on a budget if you shop carefully and wait for the right time to buy.
