It's a fine balance... You don't want people submitting slips when in all likelihood they are definitely not going to sing (the next available singing slot is after closing time) however the last thing you want to do is turn people away and then have half your rotation leave with 30 min to go. I'll usually let people know if they submit songs late that it's very unlikely that they'll sing however they'll be on a reserve list just in case. People seem to respond well to being on a reserve list... lol
