| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hey MB, I sort of agree with your voice point, but I don't really like to be preached to - that's sorrt of what put me eventually off the Oils stuff in the mid 80s.... yes songs are a way of getting your point/message/raising awareness etc across to a wide audience, but I just want to listen to music and sing along for enjoyment and don't want to overthink it and its message.... I don't think there has ever been a time where the general population have been so widely, constantly (and perhaps even unvoluntarily?) bombarded with (and have had ready instant access to via the internet) more news, views, doom and gloom (and just maybe the occasional happy, feel good story...) I think there is place for music and song to be simply a 'timeout' from it all. That's what I like about karaoke - it is just 'me' time and my time to get away from it all - as Tears For Fears sang, shout, shout, let it all out....(which ironically, has a range of meanings in itself!)! When I hopefully eventually sing that great The Call song one day, I will just being enjoying the song and encouraging the Woof Woofs you suggest, and not really thinking about its meaning or how it could apply today...? MB, would have been quite a band in those days - would have loved to have seen it!
