Many thanks for your input, and certainly we can only go on what we're told when we call up a venue - the fault is really mine as I don't currently have the programming in place to quickly tell me who specifically has recently re-confirmed a gig... and also I don't have a way to quickly shoot that person an email in the case that a gig is not publicly showing its 'Remove' button (as in this case). I've added that task to my ToDo list.
1. No matter the facts, removing the gig was only possible by me, and I should have a better system in place - apologies.
