| From the Where2sing.com forum: Just a question, does anyone pay any tax, and would this not be the appropriate money to be used by government for such as natural disasters - which, after all, are rather than norm than the exception in Oz? At the very least, using this might limit the ability of governments to go chasing political glory by heading off to distant lands to kill ordinary people with whom Australia really has no complaint other than their being the relatives and friends of many who form the foundation of today's multi-cultural Australian population.
And that being the case, when such nice salaries are being paid to tens of thousands of government workers to collect all the tax and hand it back out as needed, what's the need to go out and pay for a duplicate set of highly salaried people in organisations such as Red Cross and Salvos?
