| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi Ray: if you feel so passionate about singing and winning comps why don't you take the big step and try performing as a solo artist and compete with the rest of the paid talent out there. For me Karaoke is all about a night out with friends or family having a good time and watching people getting up on stage and performing in front of a room full of strangers, or friends because they love doing it.
Yes Ray I'm a host and I've watched comps for many years and in my opinion in the majority of them, the regulars don't appreciate chasers coming in and winning the cash put up by thier venue that they have supported with thier patronage for years. I personally love to see and hear great talent and I would say the majority is owned by people who don't enter comps not the reverse friend. Walk into any Karaoke show on any night and you'll hear great talent and some not so great but look around the room and see the happy faces having a great time isn't that what you go out for enjoyment with company.
