| From the Where2sing.com forum: Man, lots of different views of a familiar topic. Guess it really depends who you talk to. At my local (as with all others), there are many familiar 'regulars' there week in week out - they are however not regulars who sing. These regulars have no financial interests whatsoever, they are simply there week in, week out because they enjoy the entertainment. Inevitably, they will see some great comp standard singers perform and, at the other end of the spectrum... shall we say, they will see singers that are perhaps not as talented perform, yet these regulars love the overall karaoke entertainment experience as a whole, and keep coming back for more.
The argument about 'who karaoke is for; real singers, wannabes, dutch courage punters etc....' could go on and on, but we do need to remember that karaoke is a source of entertainment (that essentially competes with other 'nights out' of entertainment such as the movies, live bands etc), and many people who attend karaoke simply enjoy the never ending variety of singers performing for them.
All I am saying is that it would be good to get the views of a karaoke fan who does not sing and simply enjoys the show to give this debate some much needed further perspective.
