From the Where2sing.com forum:

I was making a point that everyone was paying out on comp chasers ... not making inferences that I was not winning comps Barrytone. Regardless, it does not matter whether I am the best singer or worst singer out there, I can still have an opinion that a certain part of the community are not treated well. I am not aboriginal for example, yet I see them get discrimated in many circumstances and can put an opinion forward in their favour! So please BT, I am not being negative to other karaoke patrons, ... I am criticising the criticisms of many on here about so-called comp chasers that i believe they don't deserve!
Comp chasers are there in a valid way. A comp is a comp ... the best should win and if something is on offer then why shouldn't those who feel they can win try and win that money. They have done nothing wrong by going after those prizes in a valid way (they have never crossed any boundaries in terms of the comps as they were in terms and conditions) yet because they win and are not regulars at the venue, there has been a negative opinion put forward about them. That's not fair! They won under the terms of those comps!
So if venues want to have 'comps' for regulars, why not just put a prize for number of attendances because then it doesn't really be a karaoke comp but a loyalty program.
The other point that I was saying was that good singers can bring in a crowd and the reason that a person may not buy anything at a venue may have nothing to do with what you think they may not be buying things for. It may be that they are poor or do not drink alcohol, or any number of reasons. Yet most on here seem to put them in a category of just not wanting to pay for anything at all. My view is that everyone has the right to attend an entertainment venue such as pub or club for free if they so desire and should not be lambasted by others for it!
