From the Where2sing.com forum:

But the whole point of the discussion was about how comp chasers are given a bad reputation and looked upon negatively. Did comp chasers actually do anything wrong by going in the comps that they have? They have stuck by any of the rules posed and yet after they win they get treated poorly by many, and this has particularly been a theme of this forum. So, if the hosts had originally not wanted comp chasers in their venues then they should take some responsibility for thinking the rules beforehand and making them very clear. Don't get upset at the people that go by those rules, and don't treat them differently ... that was the point.

If hosts want to put number of attendances as a judging criteria in a comp, then at least it is transparent. But again, I do not think it is a 'real' comp when that occurs. Even your regulars may not be able to make it a few times and find points harder to come by.

So maybe all you hosts need to have a look at yourselves where the rules that you posted originally led to people being able to attend whatever venue. The attendees have only followed your rules so you shouldnt be getting upset at them! I have said before that maybe comps should have an entry fee? That way, the so-called comp chaser will be able to put their money where they think they can win.

And David, there are numerous comp chasers in Sydney. I have found that the ones that are the complainers and bring the others down are the ones that attend all the comps yet very rarely win. Then they get upset about the person that attends every second one they attend yet wins that comp.
