Ray, once again you prove that you really haven't read my posts properly. PLEASE READ THIS AND FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING BEFORE JUMPING DOWN MY THROAT!!! We all know and understand what your point is and we all don't agree. If we agreed, we'd be having open comps all over the country. Why don't we? BECAUSE THEY DON'T ENCOURAGE A SOCIAL CROWD!!!! And, I haven't once mentioned anything personal about your intelligence so lay off the personal attacks regarding mine, and once again 'GET A LIFE'! We have all heard your point so many times that we're all sick of it!! This is a free country and we're all entitled to our own opinions. It's also a democracy, you know, where the majority usually decide the outcome! The majority have decided that comp-chasers are usually tightwads who only go to a venue and drink water all night, are anti-social, think they can sing. So they go to many different venues to try and prove it to themselves and the rest of the world over and over again - usually without much success. Or they can sing and are never seen after their initial heat until the final and then are never seen again!! If they are the former, who cares, they will probably be back for another heat as they need to try and get into the final still. If they are the latter, they are the reason why points systems for regular attendance have been created. Plus it means the venue will have a stable crowd level, will encourage the crowd to spend money and allow the venue to think that having the karaoke in the first place was a good idea! Most karaoke operators AND singers who have half a brain know that the survival of ANY show is regular attendance and keeping the MAJORITY of the crowd happy. This then in turn has the venue looking favourably at the host and allows them to be able to come back because the venue ultimately has to pay the Host to be there. If they don't see value for money, then it's game over! Karaoke is not a venue's first choice for entertainment so in essence you should be thankful any venue has it running at all!! I know this as having only started off recently myself in the business of hosting, it hasn't been easy just getting my first gig, let alone trying to convince a venue to put up hundreds of dollars of prize money for a comp which usually only attracts bitchy anti-social comp-chasers the venue will never see again once it's all over. But please, that doesn't mean that I think ALL the people the comp will attract are comp-chasers. And last of all, if there is anything here you don't fully understand, don't attack my intelligence, just ask for clarification, otherwise you'll just diminish my view of your intelligence.
