From the Where2sing.com forum:

Well if we are to define a 'Comp Chaser' it's every contestant in my book?

That said, I think most here would have to go back to the source instigating Ray's opinion (not one of his attackers have referred to it) being the 'In The News' web article from WA.......now as a West Aussie I did read this 'advertorial' with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek & I did find the opinions interesting...especially the one about declining Karaoke Competitions in this State due to the malicious stalking of 'certain people' not spending money & out to grab the Prizes!

With the exception of KWC I would Host @ least 4 Talent Style Karaoke comps per year & I am aware (& David would be due to gig listings) of many more being successfully run throughout the State.....so much for the 'cadet' journalists research and in addition I have had the pleasure to Judge or being a spectator @ others.....

Can I spot the so called 'Comp Chaser'?

Not really but I'll give you 10 -1 odds that somebody in that audience will tell me who they are! lol

Talent can be shared, discovered & respected in Karaoke....and I think the reference by someone suggesting 'comp chasers' should go find & front their own band is certainly not appropriate nor conducive to the spirit of the Karaoke Community I belong to....

In all, regardless of all your 'definitions' the 'stigma' you give to potential Talent or Competitors sticks to Karaoke Entertainment & gives off a very uninviting stench....may be most of you have spent too much time with the 'Karaoke Tragics'....whoops there I go using another derogatory karaoke terminology ...Sorry!
