| From the Where2sing.com forum: LB, you just contradicted yourself without knowing. It IS the resposibilty of the host to have a wide range of songs. If it wasn't, the host would have no variety for the patrons to try new songs on subsequent visits. It also puts a positive reflection on how important they consider customer satisfaction to be. If a patron requests me to get a song, I do not dismiss that request, I write it down and do my darnedest to get that song!! If I can't, I make sure I explain the situation on their next visit. I don't know what your numbers are like up there in NSW (as I have never sung there) but we will do anything it takes to maintain numbers at our shows down here and not take such 'don't care' and stubborn attitudes to how we treat our patrons as I have seen mentioned in some of the forum posts on here from NSW. Also, to me it doesn't matter about the singing abilities of the patron, IT'S KARAOKE FOR GOD SAKES! As I have stated before, patrons understand that, hosts should try and understand that and if you can't find it in your heart to applaud some one because they sang well, at least applaud that they are finished!! That's reality! And if the poster hates the quality of the singing at that venue, maybe he should get there earlier! And yes, I do agree with your last sentence LB.
