MICROPHONE-PHOBIA:
It dawned on me when I noticed that 5 different mics were in use by the 5 divas (Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Yoland Adams, Martina McBride and Florence Welch) in their tribute performance of a medley of Aretha Franklin's hits at yesterday's Grammys Show.

Professional singers must cling onto their personal mics as their 'security-blankets' when performing, as much as we karaoke singers will only sing to certain familiar versions of 'our' songs!

Throughout the whole 4 hours or so of the show it was a case of mic-spotting for me, and boy, every performer uses a different mic ... which leads me to these questions ...

(a) Is the make / quality of mics so crucial to one's live performances?
(b) Are certain makes suited to certain voices / genre of songs sung?
(c) If money is of no concern, what make / model of mic will you buy for yourself / for your own sole usage?
