From the Where2sing.com forum:

From my observation (on TV etc) a high proportion of professional artists that I see tend to use SM 58 beta A....I believe many singers just bring their own mics ..I have read that some even like the cheap old Behringer mics....Its what you get used to I guess.

Bottom line: use what you have, learn its limitations, and work around them until you can get what you want. It is a never ending battle, though, as there's always gonna be something out there better than what you have....regardless of what it is...and plenty of people to tell you that this Mic is Crap ...these speakers are rubbish..that mixer is no good ...so on and so forth!

For a few years I participated in a PA audio newsgroup...where you could chat to many of the top sound engineers in the world...those guys could not agree on which was the best brand of toilet paper let alone PA Gear LOL....seriously they were like a bunch of children all trying to outdo each other with their knowledge and experience....by the same token ...you can gain a wealt of information that way (in between the flame wars) ...LOL
