One other way in which I use to encourage new singers to sing in public, was to do a song with a friend or friends.
It not only allow you to experience what Karaoke is like in a Public venue, but It also allows you to get the feel of singing with proper PA systems,microphones and in front of an audience.
Once you have sung this way the next step is going solo and this has its own gratifying rewards.
The last thing is to have fun and enjoy yourself.
