| From the Where2sing.com forum: Hi Vic, I do four different venues at the moment and we have used the laptops for the last 8 months without any trouble ( touch wood). I only paid $150 each for them second hand so it wont be long before they have paid for themselves, I know what you mean about working in venues were most people couldn't give a damn about your equipment but a lot of it has to do with educating them. Firstly place the computers or even books near you... Secondly Don't allow alcohol near them not even to be placed on the same table and thirdly you can tie the computers down to the table with the same locks and cable that are used in the computer shops. You will find in most venues your regulars will help to enforce the rules. If you can't trust people with a $150 computer how do you trust them with a descent microphone?, is the RG really that bad I have worked in some really bad pubs in Sydney over the years but I only remember one were I wouldn't use the wireless mics.
