From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hi there, I'm just wondering who checks the Victorian karaoke listings to determine which gigs are no longer operating. I read in your newsletter the Vic Hotel in Port Fairy has been removed from the data base. Not sure why, as the gig is alive and well and has been running as a regular monthly gig on the first Saturday in each month for the last 12 months. It took a break over January to March as these months are Pt Fairy's peak tourist season and the hotels don't need to provide entertainment to bring the patrons in. It's always a great night out and I love traveling over from Warrnambool to have a sing with friends.

The Port Fairy gig is indeed back in the listings and showing as current, and I think you'll see that a couple of weeks after it was listed in the News Email as no longer running, it was back again in the Just Started gigs section of that later News Email. No one is particular determines which gigs are no longer running - this is left to anyone to click the appropriate button on the site. In short, when someone lists a gig, or adds Additional Information (second part of listing/editing a gig), this puts that gig under their control. If the gig has not been re-confirmed as running (by clicking the Re-Confirm button) for the last day, it's available for anyone to re-confirm. If the gig has not been re-confirmed for the last 20 days, everyone can then see the 'Remove' button to mark the gig as no longer running. And if the gig has not been re-confirmed for the past 30 days, then everyone can also see the "Edit' button which allows its details to be changed and for it to be taken under the control of a new person (by updating the Additional Details. This also means that the person who has control of a gig, has his control extended by anyone clicking the 're-confirm' button. In such a manner, gigs are therefore under the control of the most interested/relevant person. So any time you see a gig that you know is no longer running, and you can see the 'Remove' button, please click it (and confirm your action on the next screen).
