From the Where2sing.com forum:

David, I sent this to BKD this morning in response to what I posted warlier today on here........

As you may know by checking your records of my purchases that I have made purchases from you of songs produced by such companies as DK Karaoke, Sunfly, and Radio Starz. I cannot and will not accept as a fact that you DO NOT sell other company's music. Given, yes, Radio Starz is now defunct. But I can assure you that I have seen in your collection songs from companies such as Zoom, Soundchoice (Slep-tone Inc.) and Pop Hits Monthly (Stellar Records). Can you provide proof to me that you have been licenced to sell these songs by the companies idetified? This would be of much assistance to the many people here in Australia that are increasingly getting sceptical of your claims. And please, do not roll out the 'All our songs are licenced by Harry Fox Agency' line again as I can read that anytime in your T&C's. If I wanted that information, I wouldn't have even emailed you. Now please be absolutely honest here and give me the information I am requiring. I just want to know that I am not in possession of theoretical 'stolen goods'. And if you would like to know what is being said amongst your own karaoke industry there in the US, just visit this website - http://www.thekiaa.org/rogues-gallery.html

Regards,

The Milkman.

And from this I got another interesting response, but a little more positive toward BKD becoming legitimate! Read on.......

Hi 'The Milkman' (Real name once again omitted). Thanks for the response.

We'll check our database of songs to ensure that we do not have any of the current mfg's you suggest ie. Pop Hits Monthly, Soundchoice, Zoom, Sunfly. We are not licensed to sell any of these products from these companies. I can assure you that if we did have such songs, they would be minimal at best. I'll get our Tech to look into the old database of songs.

Please provide any info and number of songs you have downloaded from us from these companies and we will check your order#'s and issue a refund to you. The other option would be to offer you a free six (6) month subscrition to our New Releases.

Any of the older DK and other such companies that are out of business and public domain still have to be licensed thru Harry Fox Agency.

I clicked on your link, I saw the reference to a Canadian Karaoke company that was out of business in Canada and the same public domain applies. I don't see any reference to any 'investigation'. We have never sold hard drives of songs.
You have to remember, companies like Sound Choice are hard disc mfg's that belong to this organization and are against any digital downloads of any company eating into their profits. This includes New Releases from our own production company.

Also it appears that they seem to think that SC are trying some dirty tricks of their own! I may ask some questions of them for some proof of payment of royalties to HFA. As they say in this email, it appears to be HFA that is obviously in charge of collecting royalties for the now defunct companies. Once again, will keep you posted.
