From the Where2sing.com forum:

Hosts and singers - your opinions on hosts that don't let you (or discourage you) from singing songs from a particular artist... Or indeed about singers who insist on singing songs by artists you can't stand...

I have decided to stop going to a gig due to a host not so subtly telling me that he didn't want me singing songs by a particular artist. It was said in a joking manner and said that he 'had complaints' from locals. I did 3 songs one week (keep in mind I did about 8 songs that night), the next week I put down 2 and was only allowed to do 1, the next week I was jokingly discouraged to do any.

Now, I understand there are artists that people don't like or are very unpopular... but does that give anyone the right to say 'no, you can't sing that?' And if it stays on the list, isn't the host merely saying that anyone *but* you can sing those songs? (Otherwise they would be taken off the list)
