To be honest with you I have never discussed the financial gains/losses of holding a Comp or running the KWC with Nat so I can't really answer that question for you. My own view is that financially it is not a winner in general for a venue or an Operator given that after the Comp has ended you rarely get to see most of the contestants at that same venue again unless of course there is another comp operating. What I believe it does give and add to a venue is exposure if you happen to provide the winner. It can also be used as a marketing tool for entertainment held at the venue because invariably you will get a lot of quality singers that people do enjoy listening to. I know I certainly do. Having said that I think it works better for that purpose in a venue more like an RSL than say a Pub. With an RSL u will generally get an older crowd that might be listening/watching where as with a Pub it tends to be a younger crowd and in my experience they tend to heckle quality singers rather then appreciate them. Just my opinions on things ....not necessarily right.
