| From the Where2sing.com forum: Because I run shows in restaurants and bistros, I don’t have the problem being discussed re: singer rotations and latecomers, but I have a “similar” dilemma with late requests.
Kitchens usually close at around 10.00pm most places, so no latercomers - in that these venues won’t let anyone in after kitchen closing-time, because those latecomers can’t order any food and they just won’t be allowed in for free karaoke.
But there are the occasional patrons who have plucked up enough courage to put in a request towards the end of the night … and yes, I will oblige, since he / she is a full-paying customer, and we will extend the “official” closing-time to cater for such late requests.
Singer-rotations in restaurants and bistros present entirely different situations altogether – most diners are in and seated by 7-8pm, and when the karaoke starts at around 9pm, all’s settled – audience and singers are all just about locked-in tight, and coupled with “fluid” closing-times … well …. These are the main reasons why I only opt for restaurants and bistros!
